Director of Quality and Support

Major Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements revenue cycle quality programs to achieve targets and provide measurements related to Advocate Aurora Health's revenue cycle strategies. Engages and collaborates with key, multidisciplinary leaders and teams throughout the organization to positively impact revenue cycle quality, systems, and process for the purpose of enhancing the organization's financial performance and the patient experience.
  • Evaluates the revenue cycle impacts of proposed initiatives and projects, making data-driven recommendations that promote revenue cycle quality, operational efficiency, and patient safety and satisfaction. Analyzes complex revenue cycle problems to provide direction in prioritization and implementation of appropriate strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborates in development of revenue cycle business processes. Drives the ongoing design and development of reports, dashboards, alerts, and tools to drive improved revenue cycle performance. Responsible for in-scope vendor governance and optimization of revenue cycle systems.
  • Leads the Revenue Cycle Automation program at AAH. Evaluates new opportunities, implements identified opportunities, ensures automation is maintained and optimized, and quantifies the impact of the programs put in place.
  • Sets strategy for the day-to-day operational activities of the support helpline and revenue cycle work queue assignments. Ensures all stakeholders of the work done in this space are aligned.
  • Responsible for the revenue cycle quality and systems aspects of partnership relationships. Provides guidance on tools and resources and makes recommendations for in-scope and out-of-scope use.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.

Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Operations in a large, integrated health care system developing, implementing, or supporting operational or systems process. Experience with Business Systems, Quality Assurance, Software Automation Development, or Health Care Revenue Cycle. Includes 3 years of management experience in a supervisory role managing staff and budgets.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Expertise in developing and executing projects related to revenue cycle systems enhancements.
  • Expert knowledge of metrics utilized to measure quality and processes.
  • Proven skills in working effectively with multiple departments and matrix organizational structures. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills to influence and develop others in order to move toward common goals and outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with limited guidance or direction. Effective critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Possesses and applies knowledge of key technology solutions, business drivers, and the factors that maximize area performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practice business processes and the technologies that support them.
  • Demonstrated experience with integrating regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of team members, including managing through difficult situations, valuing differences, and leveraging strengths.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Must be able to sit 50% and stand 50% of the workday.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Ability to be on-call after hours during revenue cycle system implementation support as needed.
