Job Description

Seneca's Property Claims Intern will have the opportunity to build skills in a professional work environment, work directly with our managers and claims team, and gain valuable work experience toward employment in the insurance industry.

As our Property Claims Intern during the summer of 2024, you will work with our claims adjusters, both inside, and outside adjusters investigating property claims in the tristate area. You may also have an opportunity to interact with Underwriting and Operations Professionals for a complete insurance industry learning experience. The day-to-day functions of this internship may change based on storm season claims, and you will have other projects and duties as assigned. The candidate for this intern position will need a strong work ethic, multi-tasking, organizational and communication skills.

What you will do for C&F:

    Learn the claim adjuster process
  • Establish contact with agents, insureds and claimants under guidance from co-workers.
  • Interpret policies.
  • Investigate claims and policy coverage.
  • How to make recommendations to authorize or deny payment of claims within established authority levels and Company guidelines.
  • Investigative skills needed for claims processing
  • Learn how to manage your time effectively as you prioritize your workload.

What you will bring to C&F:

  • The candidates for this intern position will need a strong work ethic, have excellent customer service skills, strong multi-tasking skills; have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Be a quick learner and able to learn basic understanding of property insurance policies.
  • Needs to be PC literate and able to effectively use our systems.

Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.

The hourly pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $15.00 to a maximum of $25.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
