Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division provides industry leading metrology solutions for worldwide semiconductor IC manufacturers. The FaST Division portfolio of metrology products includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems. These products are essential for the IC manufacturers as they provide critical metrology capabilities for the development and implementation of their advanced IC processes. The FaST division is committed to support our customers to achieve performance entitlement of our solution and we effectively partner with our customers from their early research and development phase to the high volume in-line manufacturing implementation specific for their process needs. The division consists of a global team located in US, Israel, China, and India.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Seeking an experienced Mechanical design engineer with precision machine design experience to join our team!.

With a focus on engineering fundamentals, responsibilities for this exciting role will include:

  • CAD mechanical design using CREO, Solidworks
  • Perform feasibility studies
  • Managing large assemblies and system layout using reference geometry
  • Experience with PDM systems
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis as required (using Ansys/Mechanica/Solidworks)
  • Drive conceptual and detailed design, using 3D solid modeling (ProE/Creo)
  • Assembly and part tolerancing including GD&T
  • Drive Manufacturing process for releasing parts and assemblies, including product structure for manufacturing and ECO process
  • Perform FEA analysis, error budgeting, and hand calculations to support your proposed designs
  • Participate in and lead design reviews to acquire a peer-oriented design assessment.
  • Communicate requirements, timelines, and deliverables clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Build prototypes and validates designs.
  • Possess understanding of Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Release designs to manufacturing
Qualifications Desired
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal forming and 3D printing
  • 1 years Driving requirements specification
  • Basic/Intermediate knowledge of precision machine design
  • Basic knowledge of vacuum systems a plus
  • Solid understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fluid flow and heat transfer
  • Experience in 3D solid modeling (Creo or Solidworks preferred.)
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding fabrication and castings.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods.
  • Experience/knowledge in several of these areas is desirable: opto-mechanical systems, vacuum systems, design of inspection equipment or similar instruments, motion controls, electronics, , tooling & test fixture design, supplier management, new product introduction, manufacturing support
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Desire to contribute to team efforts to accomplish overall objective. Demonstrate perseverance and a drive to be better, outstanding organizational skills with ability to multi-task, detail oriented.
  • Ability to adapt and persevere in the fast paced semiconductor industry

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience
