About the Job

Title: Library Assistant
Job Family: Non-Exempt Temp/Casual
Job Code: 0001

Pay rate: $17.13/hour

Work hours: Monday-Friday, hours TBD

Typical Duties:

  • Provide assistance to library patrons in-person and over the phone
  • Shelve, shelf-read, and perform stacks maintenance
  • Plan, design, and create library programs and displays
  • Coordinate workflow of student workers in absence of supervisor
  • Assist with training of new student employees
  • Provide back-up staffing for desks, as needed
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Independent decision-making abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills

    Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of Alma and other library processes and resources
  • Extensive knowledge of the University Libraries systems, policies, procedures and referral information for library users
  • Skilled in triaging library questions to relevant staff members
  • Experience with library customer service skills, problem solving, and handling difficult situations
