Job Summary Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Planning Research Analyst, Senior who collects, analyzes, interprets, reports, as well as maintains institutional data for use in decision-making, strategic planning, and support of project initiatives related to institutional effectiveness. The successful candidate serves as a subject matter expert in the design and development of data dashboards and the use of databases and data reporting/visualization; conducts complex analyses with broad college-level impact. The Aspen Institute evaluates various criteria in its selection process and validates the levels of active and engaged learning in the classroom and the progress PVCC is making with the implementation of Guided Pathways. 1) First-year retention rates 2) Graduation rates 150 percent normal program completion time 3) Improvement of student success rates over time 4) Graduation rates of underrepresented minority students 5) Graduation rates of low income students Essential Functions 35% Data Analysis and Reporting - Collects, analyzes, interprets and maintains institutional data for use in key decision making, strategic planning and project initiatives, including developing programs and queries to manipulate, clean, and extract data. Performs complex, highly visible and potentially sensitive research and analysis. Composes, reviews and finalizes original comprehensive and complex documents, reports and visualizations. 30% Data Extraction and Preparation - Utilizes programs such as Tableau Prep as well as Tableau Desktop, Tableau Explorer or other SQL browsers to create queries to access, clean and extract data from data warehouses and other data. Coordinates with system-level teams on reports/data collection. 20% Tableau - Creates and updates visualizations, reports, infographics and dashboards for use by college committees, departments and leaders to inform decision making. 15% Consulting and Decision Support - Provides professional-level staff support, consultation, and assistance to college committees, advisory groups, departments or leaders which may include performing research, authoring documents, making presentations and providing technical assistance. Serves on and support efforts of college committees, task forces, and work groups. Anticipates data and decision support needs of college stakeholders. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business statistics, educational studies, business administration or directly related field and four years of professional-level experience in research and analysis that includes responsibility for coordinating projects and programs. Two years of senior-level or lead experience may be required for some assignments. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. Master's degree in Data/Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics or related area 2. Two years or more experience working with data analysis software (such as business intelligence software (Tableau, etc.) statistical software (SAS, SPSS, R, etc.,) or analytical tools 3. Knowledge of SQL 4. Experience presenting research 5. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion 6. Two or more years experience in higher education data analysis 7. Experience with data infrastructure (e.g., IRIS, Assist Lake, Tableau) Special Working Conditions
