Senior Content Specialist

The Senior Content Specialist plans, coordinates, writes and produces national reputation advertising content, executive communications (both internal and external), print materials, and content for digital, interactive, social and other emerging communication technologies to advance the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center brand and reputation. The Senior Content Specialist interacts constantly with appropriate Medical Center leaders and serves as a point person for Marketing and Strategic Communications colleagues for producing, editing and proofreading content for their client departments and projects. Superior written and video storytelling abilities are required. This position is responsible for not only planning and creating high-quality content, but also distributing it through various communication channels traditional, interactive, social and emerging technologies and optimizing its findability and shareability by web-based search engines and across digital channels. In addition, this position may be assigned to lead various ad hoc committees and work teams involving other Medical Center faculty and staff, department team members, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, web developers and user-experience designers both in-house and freelance.

The Senior Content Specialist for the Content team practices within the Medical Center's policies and procedures and adheres to the Medical Centers values as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with faculty, staff, and the formulating and meeting of personal development goals. In support of the Medical Centers strategic goals, this person works closely with individuals at all levels of the organization and community and, therefore, must conduct himself/herself with the utmost professionalism in all interactions. Further, finished projects managed by the Senior Content Specialist directly affect the image of the Medical Center among its key constituent groups and must be accurate, consistent, high-quality and free from errors of any kind.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelors degree in journalism, English or related communications field or equivalent experience.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in journalism, English or related communications field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in communications, public relations or related field. Strong knowledge of effective digital storytelling techniques. Experience writing/producing and publishing content within a content management system and social media channels. Strong problem-solving, writing, editing and proofreading skills essential. Must have excellent verbal communication skills as well as presentation and negotiation skills.

Additional Desired Qualifications

Familiarity with photography, video, printing, budget management and content analytics preferred.
