Major Responsibilities:
  • Planning, management, implementation and evaluation of operations/services to insure quality cost effectiveness.
    • 5)Revises schedule as needed to ensure effective and efficient utilization of all radiology resources and establishes staffing requirements for this process.
    • 6)Accesses service volumes and case mix to determine appropriate staffing to expedite patient flow.
    • 7)Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
    • 8)Monitors throughput for improved coordination of patient flow through Imaging Center.
    • 9)Monitors quality of patient care and customer satisfaction; oversees implementation of measures to improve both.
    • 10)Facilitates care delivery in conjunction with patient focused care model.
    • 1)Prioritize and expedite final testing before discharge.
    • 2)Oversees scheduling process for all modalities in Imaging Center.
    • 3)Communicates frequently with the nursing units to ensure timely and complete preparation and transportation of radiology patients.
    • 4)Communicates with modalities in radiology in a timely fashion as needed throughout course of assignment to trouble shoot and implement scheduling changes.

    • 4)Conducts special projects and studies related to area activities, goals or objectives.
    • 1)Develops and implements policy and procedures to assure effective and efficient operations consistent with Christ Hospital and Advocate Health Care mission, philosophy and values.
    • 2)*Develops and incorporates CQI projects into routine business operations.
    • 3)Insures that standards of practice are developed, implemented and evaluated in conjunction with monitoring and evaluation activities appropriate for the area.
    • 5)Assumes 24 hour responsibility for assigned areas of operations.
  • Preparation and administration of budgets to insure adequate personnel, facilities and supplies
    • 1)Plans and administers an annual budget and monitors budgetary expenditures, reports and justifies variances on an on-going basis.
    • 2)Assures efficient utilization of staff, supplies and equipment.
    • 3)*Identifies inventory levels and costs of supplies maintained in the area
    • 4)Places orders as required via hospital information system.
    • 5)Develops new and expanding program proposals with costs/budget implications.
    • 6)Completes forecasting for up-coming and long term budgets.
    • 7)Develops major and minor equipment purchase proposals.
    • 8)Assist with the development of feasibility studies for capital expenditure projects.
    • 9)Communicates with ancillary/support departments related to operational issues.
  • Responsible for the selection, development, motivation and evaluation of the staff
    • 2)Evaluates and conducts performance reviews for staff on a timely basis.
    • 3)Coordinates recruitment activities. Facilitate and promote retention strategies.
    • 4)Assesses educational needs of the staff and facilitates educational opportunities.
    • 5)Assist individuals with identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to achieve these goals.
    • 1)Recruits, selects, mentors and motivates direct reports to achieve department, hospital and personal goals and objectives.
    • 6)*Insures an adequate orientation program for staff.
    • 7)Implements and coordinates disciplinary procedures.
    • 8)Monitors and facilitates the resolutions of performance and/or employee relations issues.
    • 9)Facilitates staff meeting relating to unit, division, hospital and system activities.
  • Maintenance of effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
    • 1)Collaborates with physicians, management and other health care professionals to assure delivery of the highest quality of services, patient care, patient/customer satisfaction and continual referral into the imaging areas for services as well as optimum turnaround time for patient flow.
    • 2)*Actively participates in hospital committees and projects (CQI projects, hospital projects, etc.).
    • 3)*Networks with peers to assure that administrative and clinical standards for imaging services are integrated into the department and hospital services.
    • 4)Coordinates activities with other hospital departments to insure timely, cost effective service is delivered within the patient focused care model.


Licensure:
  • Nurse, Registered (RN)


Education/Experience Required:
  • * RN * BSN * 3+ years previous experience in a hospital setting.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • * Proficient in use of hospital-based information systems. * Organization, planning & delegation skills. * Team building skills. * Financial skills. * Communication skills. * Demonstrates leadership attitudes. * Results oriented with concern for appropriate process.
  • * Licensed professional Nurse in the State of Illinois * Current CPR Certificate


Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • * The ability to analyze clinical and financial information to make sound business decisions. * Ability to travel locally, as well as, long distance travel. * Ability to work within stressful conditions and difficult situations. * Resilient and flexible in a changing environment. * Ability to adjust to flexible work hours. * Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back. * Ability to participate on-call program and available to department needs with minimal notice. * Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills. * Ability to practice high quality patient care and technical competence. * Ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. * Ability to demonstrate good communication skills. * This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development; normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging, prior expense with various age groups is preferred.
