SUMMER INTERN- ENGINEERING

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is seeking an Summer Intern- Engineering. The Summer Intern- Engineering will learn about Caterpillar machine sizing and application, how to complete a site assessment using VST Pro, and how to use productivity tools like VL Productivity and MineStar. The Intern will work at the direction of the Site Innovation Engineer assigned to customers to deploy and drive change using available tools; help customers engage with their data, assess their current operations, and provide recommendation to assist with change management. Seeking candidates who are currently in process of earning an engineering degree.

Requirements for the Summer Intern- Engineering position include:
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Must be able to multi task while maintaining organized and detailed documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clean driving record and a valid driver's license required. This position will require 60% travel, or work in the field. Some travel is required - overnight or out of town via car or airplane.
  • Must be able to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet demands of customers.

Physical requirements must be met for the Summer Intern- Engineering job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
