Job Description

The Department of Neurology provides clinical service care in the areas of neuro-oncology, neurophysiology, and rehabilitation medicine (physiatry and rehabilitation therapy). Our clinicians and staff are committed to providing excellent cancer care and treatment for patients with a variety of aggressive tumors, including glioma(s), glioblastoma, primary and metastatic brain tumors, central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma, pituitary tumors, meningioma, neurofibromatosis (NF), and histiocytosis.

We are hiring a Director, Hospital Administration to join our leadership team, as the administrative partner to the Chair and other key, clinical and administrative stakeholders, and report to and collaborate with the Vice President, Hospital Administration.

You Will:

    Act as thought partner to the Chair and collaborate in the design, coordination and implementation of all administrative aspects of the department's clinical, research and teaching/educational activities.
  • Oversee department operations, ensuring the best patient-centric care.
  • Direct the operational, financial, technical and personnel management of resources, aligned with departmental and Center goals.
  • Demonstrate an enterprise-wide perspective on new initiatives while ensuring the highest quality of patient and patient-related services, and effective resource management.
  • Participate in enterprise and/or multidisciplinary initiatives to further develop and sustain operational excellence principles.
  • Foster an inclusive, accountable, and continuous improvement culture; partner with Hospital and clinical leadership, and serve as a mentor for emerging leaders.

You Have:

  • Dynamic operational leadership experience and ability to apply broad technical, clinical or professional knowledge to function as an internal consultant and assume managerial responsibility in a specialized functional unit of the organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing, motivating, and supporting staff with proven results in fostering inclusion and building a collaborative team that drives impact and achieves desired results.
  • Track record of developing strong relationships of trust and confidence with senior leaders, peers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to influence, and effectively engage with a wide variety of team members.
  • Driven optimization and innovation efforts by continuously adapting to changing dynamics.
  • Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Analytical skills to assess operational challenges and opportunities through the use of data.

You Need:

  • 7+ years of healthcare management experience with proven track record as a collaborator with the ability to work across functional areas
  • Agile thinking skills with the ability to move easily between high-level strategy creation and more tactical, project-planning discussion.
  • Information management skills to communicate, explain, interpret, share, and/or present information to staff at MSK and appropriate external contacts.
  • Analytical skills to develop, analyze and draw conclusions from financial, statistical, and operations data.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Flexibility to work on-site in Manhattan as needed (hybrid schedule)
