Social Work Intern, School and Community Program

Child Mind Institute
United States, New York, New York
215 East 50th Street (Show on map)
April 23, 2024

Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is recruiting a social work intern for School and Community Programs. The social work internship is an opportunity for social work students to earn up to 15 hours toward a master's degree in social work, which hours are also eligible for social work licensure. Qualified candidates are second-year social work students at accredited masters-level social work graduate programs in New York City. This internship is school-based and follows a K-12 NYC calendar. The start date is September 9th, 2024 and it is preferred that interns complete their second treatment cycle, which may conclude around the end of May.

School and Community Programs bring school-wide mental health support and evidence-based treatment groups to K-12 public schools across the five boroughs. Community-based social work interns provide mental health screening, school-based consultation, caregiver and educator workshops, small-group treatment, and have an opportunity to provide preventative classroom-based lessons. On occasion, caregiver workshops may be held in the late afternoon.

Social work interns have the opportunity to work closely with NYC educators and school administrators and provide training on a variety of topics to support evidence-based strategies to improve educator and student mental health.

All interventions are delivered directly in school and community settings, and interns attend supervision and training seminars during dedicated, weekly administrative time at the Child Mind Institute's East 50th Street location or via a virtual meeting platform.

Successful candidates will have the chance to participate in a developing and innovative program and contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager and Clinical Supervisors for our trauma, behavior, and mood services, this is an unpaid, part-time, internship position in our NYC headquarters.

The Child Mind Institute is proud to be named a company!
