Job Details:

Purpose

University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) is looking for a graphic designer to join our Creative team. Under the direction of the art director, the graphic designer will produce print and digital creative solutions that address the marketing and communications needs of the university.

General Notes

This is a fixed-term benefits eligible position, funded for 24 months with the possibility of extension. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute concepts for print and digital collateral with great attention to quality and detail.

  • Collaborate with design and marketing team members on creative project solutions

  • Update files and extend existing designs across a variety of file types and sizes.

  • Maintain UT brand continuity and visual appearance in print, digital and multimedia environments.

  • Conduct photo searches as needed for creative projects.

  • Develop and manage inventory of relevant materials, supplies, equipment, photos, graphics, and design assets.

  • Preflight/prep files for both print and digital. Coordinate production with printers, including press checks.

  • Organize and maintain digital project files within the established archival system.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • One year of professional work experience in graphic design and production.

  • Ability to design and produce high-quality work with a strong sense of concept development, superior design, technical and editing skills, and up-to-date knowledge of industry trends.

  • Experience with the printing process including print specifications and final files service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, work within budget, and collaborate with a team.

  • Fluency in Adobe CC, Keynote, PPT, and Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years or more of professional graphic design and production experience.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML a plus.

  • Experience using a project management system a plus.

Salary Range
$55,000+ negotiable depending on experience

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

  • This position is based in Austin, TX and must work on campus 2-3 days a week. Eligible for flexible work arrangements.
