The opportunity

Job Description

The Custodial Technician executes the daily duties required to establish a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing learning environment. While completing the assigned tasks, the Custodial Technician has contact with students, visitors, and office staff. Ensure area turns related to students throughout within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. This role following organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and student experience.

Available Shifts (2):

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Monday - Friday, 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for the daily, vacant, and deep cleaning and disinfection of student areas, equipment as assigned and other common areas of assignment.

  • Perform duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the organizational cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the environment for which tasked with servicing.

  • Adhere to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines while promoting a culture of safety.

  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including initiatives to improve student experience and cleanliness metrics.

  • Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment evidence by stocking and restocking housekeeping services cart in a neat and orderly fashion.

  • Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams handling (i.e., regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).

  • Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Recognize and adhere to student privacy requirements (FERPA).

  • Use appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.

  • Operate and maintain all housekeeping tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

  • May be asked to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of window/shower curtains.

  • May be asked to assist with onboarding of new Level I technicians.

  • May be asked to get fit tested.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned. Job responsibilities can change at any time, with or without notice.

  • Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study: High school diploma or GED

  • Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: Yes

  • Can demonstrate use of computers and mobile devices for daily job performance activities.

  • Read/write English.
