Overview

Performs or coordinates performance of scheduled and corrective maintenance on electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical clinical equipment, as well as acting as a resource for clinical personnel in the use of such equipment, with the intents that clinical equipment: is cost-effectively maintained and used in the safest and most efficacious manner; downtime is minimized; readiness is maintained.


Responsibilities

Performs corrective maintenance on clinical equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions. Includes adjustments, repairs, and calibrations.

Performs planned maintenance inspections on clinical equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions. Performs 100% planned maintenance on life support equipment within the first two weeks. Includes adjustments, repairs, and scheduled or corrective parts replacements necessary to complete these inspections.

Performs appropriate documentation on corrective maintenance activities including those performed by outside service vendors. Documents work order time and non-productive time to ensure accountability of labor utilization. Maintains documentation and compliance with departmental standards for purchase order and parts management activities.

Assists in, or coordinates, installation and acceptance testing of new equipment and special projects as assigned. Initiates associated PM procedure changes for new equipment when necessary.

Supports institutional and departmental quality assurance activities by completing alert/recall, incident investigation, and Safety Zone Portal work orders as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, or other related field of study OR
Completion of military service school in Biomedical Equipment Technology as substitute for associate degree.
COVID-19 PANDEMIC EXCEPTION:
Successful completion of one of the above-referenced degrees at the conclusion of the required internship hours while employed at Cone Health.
