Overview

The Institute for Respirtatory and Sleep Medicine (IRSM), a division of Alliance Cancer Specialists, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for our Yardley Practice. IRSM is a large Pulmonary / Sleep Medicine practice that provides advanced Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine diagnostic testing. Our Home Sleep Study program is accredited by the American Association of Sleep Medicine. We are seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing individual with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office while maintaining a high level of customer service for our patients.

Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Responsibilities

  • Administers respiratory care and diagnostic procedures and therapies as assigned by the Department Manager or appropriate supervisor.
  • Is able to assess, plan, and provide individualized care for patients in compliance with physician's orders, taking into account the metal status, development, and physical needs of each patient based on age, i.e., adolescents, adults, geriatrics.
  • Performs PFT's according to department Policies & Procedures.
  • Performs EEG's according to department Policies & Procedures.
  • Administers drugs in accordance with department Policies & Procedures and attests to the competency to perform those procedures.
  • Is aware of hazards/ contraindications associated with use of such drugs.
  • Performs oxygen and equipment maintenance in accordance with department Policies & Procedures.
  • Documents procedures in Medical Record and department records to ensure statistical and charging accuracy according to department Policies & Procedures.
  • Performs required equipment maintenance, preparation, cleaning, and sterilization per department Policies & Procedures.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems.
  • Communicates all clinical problems or patients requiring further evaluation to Department Manager or designated supervisor.
  • Performs CPR and is currently certified for basic life support by AHA.
  • Understands and practices safe respiratory care techniques.
  • Adheres to all universal precautions.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

The position must have 3 years clinical experience with knowledge of either sleep medicine or pulmonary function testing.

This job requires registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a prerequisite.

Successful candidates has background in Pulmonary Diagnostic testing, able to work with patients with CPAP or BiPAP equipment issues. Sleep Medicine background a plus.
