POSITION OBJECTIVE The Coordinator serves as the front-line contact for visitors to the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning (CCEL), has the overall responsibility for the smooth functioning of the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning office, and connects students to civic engagement opportunities and resources. This position promotes and coordinates community service opportunities by assisting drop-in students, managing community service fairs, coordinating on-campus blood drives, creating the weekly departmental e-newsletter, and assisting with non-partisan political engagement activities, including voter registration. This position also oversees the scheduling, use, and maintenance of the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning van fleet and maintains the department's financial transactions. The coordinator supervises Center for Civic Engagement and Learning's student office assistants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform other duties as assigned. (4%) CONTACTS Department: Continual, daily contact with Center for Civic Engagement and Learning professional staff to collaborate and ensure work is aligned with Center for Civic Engagement and Learning's mission. Continual contact with student assistants to coordinate and oversee their work. University: Frequent contact with departments within the Division of Student Affairs to promote Center for Civic Engagement and Learning programs. Regular contact with university office of Facilities and Operations and Environmental Health and Safety to coordinate van safety certification and van related issues. Regular contact with IT to manage CampusGroups portal. External: Frequent contact with more than 75 Cleveland area organization staff to develop and implement civic engagement programs and community service fairs, and to promote their volunteer opportunities to students. Frequent contact with vendors to make office purchases and request equipment and van repairs. Regular contact with national organizations that support campus voter engagement projects. Students: Daily contact with students participating in Center for Civic Engagement and Learning programs to provide assistance with registration and program logistics. Continual contact with students for purposes of recruitment, information-sharing, and placement in Center for Civic Engagement and Learning program and community-based opportunities. Frequent contact with students for the development and delivery of civic engagement programming. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position supervises the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning student office assistants. QUALIFICATIONS Experience: at least 1 year of experience in either: a) educational, community-based, or nonprofit setting; b) service program such as Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, etc.; c) an administrative setting; or d) equivalent experience through undergraduate or graduate involvement in community service/civic engagement programs required. Education/Licensing: Bachelor's degree required. Must have valid Ohio driver's license required for driving Center for Civic Engagement and Learning vans. REQUIRED SKILLS
WORKING CONDITIONS Typical office environment. The position requires driving a university vehicle to off-campus locations. Willing to work some flexible hours on some evenings and weekends to meet program and position objectives. Hybrid Eligibility
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
