Overview

As a Manager-Carrier Sales, you will serve as the principal customer contact for all business development, sales, revenue generation and promotional activity for the Company's carrier customers (e.g., cellular, IXC, CAP, ILEC, CLEC) throughout TDS ILEC, CLEC, and cable markets. You will work directly with the Regional Manager - Business Sales & Operations to craft a strategic plan to develop new and existing carrier accounts and then execute that plan. You will pursue new carrier customers and maintain business relationships with existing carrier customers to add circuits and capacity, grow revenues, and retain accounts.

You will be a true solution seller who succeeds by identifying customer needs and developing opportunities to leverage TDS' network and full complement of solutions and technology offerings which encompass, TDM and Ethernet transport. You must be able to uncover business opportunities by reaching out and developing relationships with everyone from Tier 1 carriers to regional fiber networks to local ILECs. As a strategic carrier sales professional, you will be responsible and accountable for developing new business opportunities, as well as working with carrier accounts.

You will execute the "go to market" strategy by leveraging the resources of TDS to meet the needs of carrier accounts. You will work cooperatively with members of the Carrier Sales Team, representatives from other business units, including Marketing & Product Development, Government & Regulatory Affairs (Carrier Relations, Access Service Center and Carrier Account Services), Network Services (planning, engineering, implementation and optimization), and Network Operations (circuit turn up, ongoing circuit support, and trouble resolution) to ensure the fulfillment of the TDS value proposition and brand promise to the customer.

The success of the carrier sales team is dependent upon your knowledge, commitment, communication, and ability to work cooperatively with the Regional Manager - Business Sales & Operations, its team members, and other TDS teams.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

The salary listed for this position is encompassing of both the base salary, as well as what one might expect to earn when meeting established sales quotas. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Responsibilities

    Develop a strategic plan to grow the TDS carrier business by adding new accounts, retaining customers, and growing revenue. Stay up-to date with CLEC/ILEC/Cable network investments and leverage them to add points of interconnection to serve other carriers and customers.
  • Identify, contact, and build relationships with prospective and existing carrier accounts through a combination of email, telephone calls, and in-person visits. Engage in trade association events (e.g., Comptel) to build network and earn referrals to obtain appointments. Leverage the Company's digital marketing to increase awareness and generate leads.
  • Meet and exceed the monthly goals to acquire, retain, and grow the carrier customer base and revenues. Conduct the day-to-day activities to win carrier sales and provide customer service as needed. Work cooperatively with product marketing to ensure competitive pricing. Provide regular account updates and sales forecasts.
  • Close carrier sales, gather all the necessary documentation, develop a sales plan for the account, forward the sales package, and maintain customer contact. Manage the customer account through transition to our Sr Account Manager and participate in the upgrade as needed.
  • Maintain key industry, vendor, competitor, and customer contacts. Communicate regularly with Network Services staff to promote active buy/sell coordination with our carrier suppliers/customers.
  • Maintain personal technical knowledge by working closely with the sales engineer, interacting regularly with Network Services staff, and attending industry seminars. Maintain and improve interpersonal skills and knowledge of internal processes for self and sales team.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and other customer activities. Maintain relations with contacts and lead sources.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher OR 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 5+ years of business-to-business sales experience and success.
  • 4+ years carrier telecommunications sales experience and/or experience with Special Access Products (i.e. Ethernet, Sonet, DS3s, t-1s, etc.).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license as travel is required and a necessary part of this position.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates.
