Summary:

Justrite Safety Group is looking for a Value Stream Supervisor. This position will be responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the department involved in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or assembly work. Ensures employees are following safety procedures and oversees value stream/department operations and personnel. Establishes and coordinates the production schedule in value stream/department. Maintain proper flow of materials, parts, and assembly between or within departments. Set goals and help keep the company's objectives in focus. Promote high quality levels within the workplace. Implement, support, and champion continuous improvement activities for positive change. Evaluate, coach and counsel on job performance.

This position requires mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and a high attention to safety, quality, and production as well as the ability to work with others.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist plant management in organizing and managing day-to-day activities for plant operations
  • Manage the team in achieving daily production goals
  • Coordinate with management in resolving plant issues in a timely manner
  • Provide training and guidance to workers to meet performance standards and measure performance
  • Determine resource requirements, work allocation and production deadlines to achieve production objectives
  • Maintain proper documentation for all plant related activities
  • Ensure materials, supplies and equipment are readily and continuously available for workers to carry out production process
  • Implement cost reduction initiative to minimize plant and labor expenditures
  • Optimize plant operations to meet quality and production standards
  • Must be able to work overtime as requested
  • Prioritize work orders throughout shift based on ship date and labor time
  • Hold self and team accountable for performance metrics
  • Positive and constructive communication with team members and other internal customers
  • Provide clear expectations, coach when they aren't met and praise when they are
  • Cross train within and out of department/value stream
  • Generate a daily communication pass-down cadence between shifts
  • Provide follow-through on maintenance, quality, and other related downtime issues
  • Utilize problem solving skills to determine root cause of problems that are being faced
  • Identify and champion improvement opportunities within the value stream/department
  • Explain and root cause any delay in work orders within the value stream/department (Customer and AO)
  • Champion 5S activities within the value stream/department
  • Report all unsafe activities to Plant Manager, Safety Manager, VP of Operations, and/or Human Resources
  • Be punctual and dependable; accountable for assigned work shift
  • Comply with all safety and environmental rules, regulations and guidelines, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements
  • Take direction from and communicate with others regardless of age, gender, race or religion
  • Dispose of hazardous and all other waste materials in accordance with regulatory procedures and policy


Requirements:



  • Ability to be on your feet, standing and/or walking, for the duration of your shift
  • Ability to identify and distinguish between colors
  • Ability to perform such actions as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, lifting, and performing repetitive motions throughout shift
  • Handle material up to 50 pounds in weight
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment around machinery or equipment with moving parts
  • Could be exposed to dust, noise or hazardous materials
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Good reading, spelling and comprehension
  • Intermediate to strong math skills
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to take accurate measurements using rulers, tapes, gauges and other tools
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others
  • 1-3 years' related experience
  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • High school diploma
  • Some college/trade school preferred
