DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies.

Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.

Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit. Explore and experience the passionate care of a diverse patient unit ranging from Intermediate Care down to Tele/Medsurg overflow.

Thornton's 2 East is a 26-bed inpatient unit which specializes in ICU stepdown, cardiac, heart failure, and medicine specialties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.
  • Previous acute care experience.
  • IMU or PCU experience.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate.
  • PCIS, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work variable hours, shifts, locations (Hillcrest & La Jolla) based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $62,285 - $62,285 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.83 - $29.83

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
