Overview

In search of a Product Engineer to join our Team.

Team member will be a great project manager in the development, design, and testing of assigned valves, hydrants, and components under the direction of senior level engineering and production staff. Applies engineering principles, methods, and best practices in the design process. Manages self-well and works well under pressure and within teams.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Proactively promotes The McWane Way
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment and with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Manages assigned engineering design projects.
  • See projects through from concept to prototype to production
  • Creates detailed CAD/Engineering documentation of these projects.
  • Works with the Engineering Manager and Sales Management to address customer requested designs.
  • Prepares product objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to manufacturing.
  • When needed, processes Engineering Change Notices for related projects. Works with the appropriate parties to ensure that the ECNs are implemented.
  • Produces assembly instructions for new product designs.
  • Enhances department capabilities by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests while exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Designs new valves, hydrants, components and other products as directed.
  • Fabricates, assembles, and tests prototypes to verify performance of design criteria.
  • Conducts engineering related tests and experiments at the direction of the Engineering Manager for products and related equipment.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Collaborates with Valve and Hydrants engineering teams to work on group projects.
  • Participates in overall product strategy, research, and development, of new and emerging products.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective, setting timelines and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information, and fulfilling transactions.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual MUST BE detail oriented, thorough and precise in the completion of tasks assigned and project related paperwork. The individual MUST BE a self-starter with ability to take an assigned project with limited input and direction and achieve the desired goal from concept to production. Education and/or Experience

  • Master's degree in engineering, applied engineering, or related technical field required OR a Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied engineering, or related technical field required with minimum of two years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • CAD expertise required including 3-dimensional modeling using software, such as, Solidworks, ProE or AutoCad Inventor.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawing including dimensions and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Project preferred.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis is preferred.
  • Metalworking Manufacturing experience is preferred.

Language Skills

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Should be able to speak effectively to customers, management and/or other fellow employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
