Job Overview:

This is a Clinical Pharmacist role based within the Pharmacy for Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center,

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of course at an accredited School of Pharmacy, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD
  • Registration in New Jersey as a pharmacist; current New Jersey licensure required
  • Minimum five years of hospital pharmacy experience
  • Completion of hospital pharmacy residency

Preferred:

  • Two years in a supervisory role
  • Advanced pharmacy degree, Board of Pharmacy Specialities certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification
  • Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • New Jersey licensure required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registration in New Jersey as a pharmacist;
  • Current New Jersey licensure required

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Days to work
  • Full-Time Schedule
  • 37.5 hours/week, Monday through Friday

Essential Functions:

  • The Assistant Director for Clinical Services is responsible for overseeing the implementation of clinical services within the pharmacy department for clinical pharmacist generalists, clinical pharmacist specialists, and pharmacy technicians,
  • They review documentation including interventions, adverse drug reactions, and medication errors to patterns and recommends practice changes,
  • Pharmacy services have expanded to include IV-PO conversion, crushed med consults, and patient counseling, and antimicrobial stewardship activities including Vancomycin Dose-Me,
  • This position is responsible for organizing and leading the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee as well as acting as the pharmacy representative on many multidisciplinary teams, routinely interacting with and supporting physicians, nurses and other healthcare members,
  • In addition, on a corporate level, this role is part of formulary standardization, directors and clinical council, and other system-wide initiatives,
  • The Assistant Director is the Residency Program Director for the four PGY 1 pharmacy residents and the ASHP Residency Program, in collaboration with the Residency Program Coordinator,
  • They also serve as a preceptor and mentor for the PGY 2 resident,
  • The Pharmacist Clinical Specialist Team, Rutgers Faculty Clinical Specialists, and medication reconciliation technicians report directly to this position
