Salary Range: $40,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: 4/4 course load for Fall and Spring contingent upon course availability/enrollment for assigned courses, exempt.

Essential Functions

Assistant Professor of Practice may teach up to four composition courses per semester at the undergraduate level required qualifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, Literature or other related field of study.
  • Assistant Professor of Practice: Teaching experience and qualifications comparable to those of faculty members in the FTT or tenure track positions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, Literature or other related field of study.
  • Two years or more of teaching experience at an institution of higher education, preferably a university, and demonstrated high levels of teaching performance as indicated by a formal review.

  • This is a security sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.

  • Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable.
  • This is a fixed-term track, benefits eligible position(s) for Fall 2024 and will be filled based on department need and the number of classes to be taught. Review of applications will be ongoing.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on main UTSA campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
