Global Director of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

As the Director of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement, you will be responsible for leading and implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency, optimize processes, and drive a culture of continuous improvement within our organization. Leveraging your expertise in lean manufacturing principles, you will oversee the development and execution of initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, reducing costs, and improving overall productivity.

Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Identify and define the tool set to be used by Itron for its Lean Program
    • Define the timeline for the implementation and deployment of Itron's lean program.
    • Develop and communicate a clear vision for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the organization's goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate lean principles into the company's overall strategic plan.


  • Process Optimization:

    • Direct cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement across all areas of the organization.
      Implement lean methodologies and tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to streamline operations and drive efficiencies.
    • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor progress and ensure continuous improvement efforts are effectively tracked and measured.


  • Training and Development:

    • Provide guidance to employees at all levels on lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Develop and deliver training programs to build organizational capability in lean manufacturing practices.
    • Foster a culture of learning and innovation by encouraging employee involvement and empowerment in improvement initiatives.


  • Change Management:

    • Drive organizational change by effectively communicating the benefits of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Anticipate and address resistance to change, fostering a supportive environment for adopting new processes and behaviors.


  • Supplier and Partner Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with suppliers and partners to identify opportunities for mutual process improvement and cost reduction.
      Establish strong relationships and implement collaborative improvement initiatives to drive efficiency throughout the supply chain.


  • Quality Assurance:

    • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure that lean manufacturing initiatives are aligned with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement robust systems for monitoring and maintaining product quality throughout the manufacturing process.




Required Skills & Experience:



  • Proven experience (10 years+) in a leadership role driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Managed regional or global organizations.
  • Experience managing multiple global operations.
  • P&L management and ownership.
  • Strong understanding of lean methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and steering organizational transformation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and process improvement.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable results in cost reduction, productivity improvement, and quality enhancement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.



Preferred Skills & Experience:



  • Six Sigma certification preferred.



Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Travel: Up to 25% global travel is expected.
