Accion's Resource Development department has a solid track record of creative partnerships, strategic fundraising and proven results. We work across a broad base of corporate and private foundation partners including Mastercard, The Coca-Cola Foundation, FMO, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Citi Foundation. In addition, we work with individual impact investors, philanthropic donors and the public sector to carry out our important and increasingly urgent mission. Building on the existing strong base of supporters and partners, we aim to further expand the team and amplify our strategic partnership priorities.

Position Summary

The Development Support Coordinator is responsible for providing critical operational support to the Resource Development team in various capacities to ensure a highly effective, team-oriented fundraising function. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and develop in the areas of fundraising, including individual giving and institutional partnership development.

Reporting to the Resource Development Chief Development and Partnerships Officer (CDPO), and supporting the wider team, this position plays an integral role in fulfilling strategic operational and administrative duties with a focus on operational support and general administrative support. The Associate will oversee donor proposal and reporting schedules, help organize donor and prospect meetings, assist the execution of strategic collaboration across the organization to maximize partner engagement, and support the department's overall goal of raising $8 - $10 million per year. The candidate will also support with some admin functions to the CDPO, VP of Institutional Partnerships and VP of Individual Giving such as organizing meetings, business travel and expense reports as well as other reporting and administrative needs. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to learn more about working in development. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, a can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, and is very detail oriented.

Position Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Operations
    • Serve as a key point of contact for the Resource Development team and "right-hand" to the CDPO
    • Provide administrative support to CDPO and team senior leadership (VP of Institutional Partnerships and VP of Individual Giving)
    • Grant Cycle Management: Oversee the team's grant pipeline, donor deliverables calendar and other necessary responsibilities pertaining to the grant cycle (contract execution, gift acknowledgements, etc.)
    • Correspond with communications and executive office on key meetings and events; serve as point of contact for all meeting preparation needs
    • Work with CDPO on board reporting and other cross departmental projects strategic to Accion
    • Perform ad hoc analysis of key trends in fundraising and institutional partner research as needed
  • Fundraising
    • Support donor communications and relationship management
    • Support Resource Development events

Position Responsibilities

The Support Coordinator should demonstrate the ability to prioritize responsibilities, produce high quality writing, exhibit the skills to analyze and synthesize accomplishments and donor requirements, and possess the curiosity and passion to learn and grow their writing, research, analytical, and overall fundraising skills. The ideal candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy. S/He must be highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • Ability to operate independently with guidance and decisions from others
  • Interest and experience in international development or nonprofit management required
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • A willingness to "roll up one's sleeves" and do what is needed to get the job done
  • Superlative organizational skills: ability to manage complex projects support from creation to completion, plan and prioritize multiple projects support, and coordinate to meet deadlines
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, integrity, and professionalism with a strong sense of discretion
  • Prior experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), fundraising or other similar database (Knowledge of Salesforce preferred, but not required)
  • Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience required
