Position Overview:
Are you passionate about chemistry and its intricate complexities? Do you excel in general chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We seek dedicated college students interested in chemistry-related courses to join our Science Learning Center team as student course mentors/tutors. In this role, you will be crucial in fostering a collaborative learning environment and supporting fellow students on their academic journey.

This position is a federal work study position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one and group tutoring sessions for general chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry courses.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere conducive to academic success.
- Assist students in comprehending complex concepts through engaging and interactive teaching methods.
- Collaborate with faculty and fellow Learning Coaches to enhance the learning experience.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, empowering them to overcome challenges and excel.
- Stay updated on course content and instructional methods to ensure effective support.



Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for general chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry, with a strong understanding of related coursework.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is advantageous but not required.
- Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Stark State College utilizes E-Verify to ensure compliance with applicable employment eligibility laws. E-Verify is an electronic system used to confirm the employment eligibility of new hires.
