Compensation: $58,926.40 /yr

Worksite Location: NCAT Campus

Overview / Job Summary:

Instructors in this program are responsible for the teaching of ground school courses that correspond with student's flight training in support of this part 141 program. This position is a Full-time Exempt level position, as defined by policy to mean working a minimum of 40 hours per week. The primary responsibility of an instructor is to provide the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing the duties in the assigned instructional modality (hybrid, online or face to face) during the day, evening, or weekend on any WSU Tech) campus/off-campus/on-line location. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic planning, serving on various committees, recruiting, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations as needed. An instructor performs all duties as directed by the Program Director, Associate Dean, Dean, Academic Vice President, or the President.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:


  • Creates and/or uploads an appropriate course syllabus for each course to the Learning Management System.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and complete scholastic records, including but not limited to course messaging in the LMS, grades, census rosters and attendance records.
  • Submits all scholastic records by the established due date.
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
  • Maintains industry credentials as appropriate to the teaching area.
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.


The instructor will create and organize course syllabi for all courses using the Learning Management System. Ensures courses have necessary content and teaching methods, staying updated in relevant subjects, and inspiring student interest. Evaluates student progress and suggests curriculum improvements to enhance learning outcomes.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, read, speak and write the English language, required.
  • Must have at least one of the two below, required.

    • Have current Certified Flight Instructor rating OR
    • Must have a Basic Ground Instructor; Advanced Ground Instructor; & Instrument Ground Instructor rating.


  • Preferred ratings: Commercial ASEL/AMEL/IR, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, Multi-engine Flight Instructor certificates.
  • One year of experience as a ground instructor, preferred.
  • Experience teaching on flight simulators; Frasca Simulators preferred.
  • Have G1000 experience preferred.
  • Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience in an online or hybrid environment preferred.

  • Attention to detail and effective prioritization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software application.
