Many of them combine artistic work and evidence-based research to improve our understanding of the experience of people with dementia and their caregivers, as well as provide opportunities to amplify narratives, change perceptions and stigma, communicate scientific findings, and generate possibilities for community engagement and systemic transformation. Arts and creativity are key to enhancing brain health as we age, and artists help us to see the world in new ways and to communicate that vision. The MAC's arts initiatives are growing with public health and community partnerships through the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Community Outreach Program (COP), and investigator grants. We plan to expand our widening network of partnerships with artists and arts organizations of all disciplines - visual arts, performing arts, film, literary arts, and mixed media - starting in the San Francisco Bay Area with the potential to grow into a global program.
