Job Summary: The Simulation Instructor provides simulation education to other educators who utilize the services of Loma Linda University's Medical Simulation Center to include Kolb's and Kirkpatrick's Evaluation Methods. Instructs mentors and educates faculty on scenario development, debriefing skills and appropriate use of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines. Provides guidance and staff development through education. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Teaching or Education required. Master's Degree preferred. One year of simulation experience, minimum two years of emergency room, operating room or acute healthcare experience and minimum one year of prior teaching, management or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Must understand experiential educational theory and simulation based learning methodology. Understands anatomy and physiology; knowledge of simulator software; video capture and editing; general lab safety; medical terminology and abbreviations; Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant or Medical Doctor required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
