Job Summary
Fishbeck is pursuing a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in our Novi office. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high-quality work performance, excellent planning and communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with clients and the public, and the ability to provide leadership to staff in a project team environment. Applicant must be willing to travel.

Primary Functions:


  • Leading the design for projects in the healthcare, and higher education markets. Additional project experience with industrial or municipal project types a plus.
  • Lead a design team to complete all aspects of mechanical engineering assignments including HVAC Plumbing, and Fire Protection system design and development of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Candidate will serve as the main point of contact with client and possess excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Candidate should be capable of acting as project manager on engineering lead projects including monitoring/maintaining project budgets, delegating work assignments, and developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Proactively pursue new engineering projects, develop client relationships, develop proposals, and participate in interview process.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD software a plus.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines (architectural/structural/electrical/civil), both within and outside of Fishbeck.
  • Mentor and assist in development of junior staff
  • Prepare contract documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Organize and maintain drawings and project files.
  • Perform project field investigations in support of renovation projects.
  • Perform project construction phase engineering duties.


Minimum Physical Requirements
Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Desired Education

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited program.
Desired Skills/ Experience


  • 15 years AE consulting business experience.
  • PE license.
  • AutoCAD and Revit mechanical software experience.
  • Microsoft Office software experience.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Should be self-motivated.
