Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Director of Plant Operations at RWJBarnabas Somerset Medical Center. This is a Full-Time, Day position. Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years experience, including 5 years in healthcare,

Essential Functions:
- Resource Management
- Formulates yearly operating budgets and manages the same in an efficient manner to achieve savings while maintaining quality service
- Continually monitors the Operating Budget to ensure that expenditures are within budgeted figures
- Over expenses must be readily explainable
- There should be no overages other than based on volume or unbudgeted replacements,
- Physical Plant utility services and equipment are inventoried and operated efficiently to assure reliable service
- Implements energy conservation measures
- Oversees and provides direction for major security related projects and physical security technologies including but not limited to: CCT Cameras, digital video recorders, access control readers, ID badging systems, panic alarms and Prosec System
- The grounds are managed in an effective manner to assure enhanced aesthetics at all times year round
- Provides support and manages the resources in terms of staffing and services for special events
- Performance Improvement
- Formulates Performance Improvement Program with goals and objectives that are consistent with the hospital mission and goals, implements necessary measures to achieve stated results
- Set goals are completed on a yearly basis
- Sets up and implements measures with the staff to maximize customer satisfaction, as reflected in the Press Ganey Survey results
- Formulates schedules and manages the Facilities Enhancement Program to achieve high Press Ganey scores
- Keeps records to reflect activities
- Plans, organizes, staffs and operates the Physical Plant in a fashion that creates and maintains a quality environment of care to our patients, visitors and staff
- Formulates a Preventive Maintenance program and implements same in accordance with JCAH and DOH requirements, to assure a reliable and safe environment
- All equipment should be accounted for in the program per regulations
- Policy and Procedure Manuals are generated and updated on a regular basis to reflect requirements per JCAH and DOH standards
- Interprets security laws, regulations and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies and other issuers of security requirements
- Formulates the program, assigns staffing to assure a safe environment in terms of fire safety, life safety, infection control and security
- Reports to respective committees
- Establishes and implements short and long term organizational goals; objectives strategic plans, policies, standards and operating procedures, monitors and evaluates effectiveness and effects changes required for improvement that will ensure the highest level of security for the hospital community
- Provides hospital wide guidance regarding best practices security standards, solutions and guidance to maintain a secure environment for patients, employees, visitors and volunteers
- Customer Relations
- Performs regular rounds on patient units and plant facilities, interfaces with staffing on the units to secure feedback and takes actions to assure customer satisfaction,
- Serves as a consultant to all hospital departments on safety/security issues
- Attends meetings of various committees including EOC, Infection Control, MOG to interface and coordinate with various departments to assure continuum of care and service
- Positive relationships with Engineering Staff/Security Staff are evidenced
- Regular staff meetings are implemented and documented
- Disciplinary control is applied as required
- Positive staff morale is evident
