Job Summary:



The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position will be at our Children's Colorado location at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora with 1 to 2 days per week spent at Network of Care sites. We provide interdisciplinary and single discipline, developmental assessments and management of children and youth with a wide array of developmental and behavioral problems. Developmental Pediatrics is part of the Neuroscience Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado, which also includes Child Neurology and Neurosurgery. We also work closely with Child Psychiatry, Genetics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Special Care Clinic, with ample collaborative opportunities. We collaborate with Precision Medicine and would like to expand our participation in multi-disciplinary neurogenetic clinics.

Applicants should be board eligible or certified in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD). We have a busy clinical practice, an ACGME accredited DBP fellowship program, and opportunities for collaborative and independent research. The Assistant or Associate Professor will provide direct clinical care to children and youth with a wide array of developmental and behavioral problems. Teaching responsibilities may include interactions with developmental behavioral pediatric fellows, residents, medical students, and other learners. Applicants should have a strong commitment to education and clinical care. Scholarly activities and/or research are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide individual and interdisciplinary team evaluations of neurodiverse children and adolescents.
  • Provide follow up and management of co-occurring conditions including provision of psychopharmacological management of attention and other behavior problems.
  • Participate in Multidisciplinary Clinics serving individuals with Neurogenetic conditions.
  • Participate in training developmental behavioral pediatric fellows, residents, medical students, and other learners.
  • Participate in quality improvement and/or research projects to improve the care provided in our clinics.



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver Metro Area in Colorado. We do see patients via Telehealth as well as in person.

We have a variety of specialty clinics within Developmental Pediatrics including the Fragile X Clinic; eXtraorinarY Kids Clinic; group and individual therapies to address behavior, anxiety, mood, and social skills; parent coaching for parent mediated interventions; psychologists who conduct evaluations in Spanish; and interdisciplinary teams addressing sleep and toileting problems. We also participate in neurogenetic multidisciplinary clinics outside our section. We have a fellowship program in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, and psychology pre- and post-doctoral training programs. We also have a strong research program and excellent faculty support by the Department of Pediatrics.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:



  • MD or DO
  • Board certified in Pediatrics if not yet boarded in a subspecialty.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
  • 1-6 years of related clinical experience or equivalent experience in specialized training working with Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities.


Associate Professor:



  • MD or DO
  • Board certified in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
  • 7+ years of related clinical experience or equivalent experience in specialized training working with Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities.


Condition of Employment:



  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Successful completion of accredited DBP or NDD training program.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary developmental assessment teams.
  • Ability to provide psychopharmacological management of attention and other behavioral problems.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to function independently and as a member of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of interdisciplinary assessment and management of developmental and behavioral problems, and special health care needs, of children from infancy through adolescence.
  • Should be invested in the education and career development of others.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $172,500 to $200,000

Associate Professor: $188,000 to $217,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
