Job Title: Open Rank- Associate Professor or Professor - Service Chief of Cornea and External Diseases

Job Summary:



The Service Chief of Cornea and External Diseases will provide oversite and leadership across the clinical, educational and research missions. This position will be responsible for managing several employees, and the incumbent will lead the staff and strategic planning for the section, setting and executing goals to advance patient care and the reputation of Division and Department. This position will play a key role in the executive leadership within the department. This role will have a named Chair associated with it and will be provided a startup account for recruitment and program development. In addition to base salary and benefits, all full-time faculty are eligible for the Department of Ophthalmology incentive plan.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Set and lead strategic goals for Cornea in partnership with SOM and Department leadership
  • Manage department cornea staff and faculty, providing mentorship and career development guidance
  • Develop a robust outpatient clinical and surgical practice as well as a commitment to resident teaching and basic or clinical research
  • Partner with SOM to enhance and develop philanthropic opportunities for the Cornea
  • Represent Department on committees as designated by the Chair
  • Responsible for direct outpatient and inpatient medical and surgical management of corneal and external disease



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position as Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Associate Professor:



  • MD with approved residency program in ophthalmology including fellowship training in corneal and external diseases.
  • Seven (7) years of clinical ophthalmology experience
  • Must be Board Certified or eligible and have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.
  • Experience and proficiency in cornea and external diseases is required.


Professor:



  • MD with approved residency program in ophthalmology including fellowship training in corneal and external diseases.
  • Ten (10) years of clinical ophthalmology experience
  • Must be Board Certified or eligible and have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.
  • Experience and proficiency in cornea and external diseases is required.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3 years leading a cornea and external disease program
  • Demonstrated track record of developing strategic initiatives within a academic medical setting
  • 3 years experience managing faculty level and leadership positions with in academic corneal disease program
  • Demonstrated track record of research and academic productivity within or related to corneal disease

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinic and Department of Ophthalmology faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Experience training and developing staff.
  • Ability to meet clinic-specific competencies and expectations.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Associate Professor: $250,000 to $325,000

Professor: $300,000 to $375,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
