Job Posting Title: Postdoctoral Fellow - Experimental Quantification of Hydrogen Production from Ultramafic Rocks---- Hiring Department: John A and Katherine G Jackson School of Geosciences---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40---- FLSA Status: Exempt---- Earliest Start Date: May 31, 2024---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 30, 2026---- Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS---- Job Details: General Notes This Postdoctoral Fellow position is at the Bureau of Economic Geology in support of a newly funded ARPRA-E project. Purpose We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to fill a two-year postdoctoral fellow position at the Bureau of Economic Geology to assist with experimental design and measurements that are part of a larger project focused on stimulating hydrogen production from mafic and ultramafic rocks. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory experiments that will answer fundamental questions about hydrogen production from rocks that include identifying reaction pathways, quantifying how much hydrogen can be produced, and understanding the role of reaction catalysts to increase yield of hydrogen production. The postdoctoral fellow will be joining a multi-University team and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and interpretation of laboratory experiments. The position requires experience in rock-based laboratory experiments and characterization, and a knowledge of metamorphic geochemistry. Responsibilities
PhD in geology, geochemistry, material science, or chemical engineering. Demonstrated experience in conducting and interpreting laboratory experiments and rock characterizations. Excellent data management skills. Demonstrated report writing and publication skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in laboratory settings. PhD must have been obtained within 3 years of the date of hire. Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience in gas chromatography, scanning electron microscopy, thermodynamic geochemistry, metamorphic petrology, and experiments focused on reaction kinetics. Salary Range$65,000+ depending on experience. Working Conditions.
