Sr. Specialist, Demand Planning

Main Purpose of the Job:

The Sr. Specialist, Demand Planningroleacts as the main point of contact with Marketing, Sales, and Finance with responsibility for developing the aligned sales and operational forecast for Nestleproducts.

This role will apply analytical techniques to project future sales using tools such as statistical modeling, customer promotional inputs, consumption trends, customer POS information, and other commercial andfinancial impactors. The Sr. Specialist, Demand Planningwill influence decision making on financial plans among commercial teams throughforecast analysis and presentation.

Key Outputs / Deliverables:

Demand Planning (60%):

  • Lead the process to achieve alignment in forecast assumptions
  • Responsible for reporting out demand plan accuracy
  • Build a rolling demand forecast by item by shipping DC for assigned portion of the product portfolio
    • Analyze product and customer performance to inform item specific forecast assumptions.
    • Utilize available syndicated data to analyze trends related to consumption, distribution, incremental mix in development of demand plan.
  • Analyze factors that impact demand for Nestleproducts (i.e. category trends / trade promotions / high-reaching products / seasonality / retail consumption / distribution channels),to build a demand plan that quantifies the business environment in a rolling longer-termhorizon.
  • Use appropriate statistical models and parameters in partnership with the statistician's team to enrich statistical forecasts and generate accurate base demand forecast in SAP/APO for a rolling longer-term horizonat the Item/DC/Week level.
  • Adjust the short-term DC-Week forecasts throughout the month as vital to support effective deployment of inventory
  • Monitor metrics to identify potential inventory problems through all planning horizons and coordinate efforts to resolve.
  • Serves as key participant in S&OP, leading discussions about key business drivers impacting the forecast including monthly Demand Reviews to an audience including key members of the business leadership team.
  • Provide visibility to sales forecast in the format, level and detail required by all customers. Communicate changes timely including underlying documented assumptions.
  • Own system setup accuracy for responsible items, DC's to ensure system operates accurately.
  • Understand customer specific inventory strategies in collaboration with customer facing supply chain to deliver accurate order/shipment forecast.
  • Face of the supply planning function to the business relative to service and fill rate

Cross-Functional Influence (20%):

  • Work cross-functionally with Brand/Category, Finance, Sales, and broader Supply Chain teams to influence and align on key demand forecast assumptions focused on driving forecast accuracy improvements.
  • Work with customer sales teams to ensure customer events are accurately captured in forecasted plans
  • Offer suggestions and seek dedication to best meet Customer demand, ensuring high Customer Service and Freshness, while minimizing cost.
  • Lead and facilitate cross functional meetings to drive alignment on the end-to-end plans.
  • Manage Stakeholders through crafting and maintaining reporting to all levels of the organization that summarizes inventory levels, capacity, service level, sales and all related issues that support these key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrating awareness to factory/production capacity/DC constraints/raw material supply and its impacts on forward looking demand.

Process Improvement (20%):

  • Develop and leadshort term projects related to capacity/demand studiesand other objectives related to demand planning.
  • Develop conclusions and make recommendations about forecast opportunities and risks to maximize business unit performance.
  • Develops processes to drive consistency in demand plan generation, with expectations of continuous improvement.
  • Support Supply Chain throughestablishing of standard methodologies and foundational processes

Qualifications/Certifications:

  • University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5years of related work experience.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with a shown ability to analyze/interpret data and build quantitative models of business problems.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, organizational and time-management abilities, effective inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Strong ability to influence with integrity or influence without authority
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment
  • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing solutions to complex problems that may not have one clear answer.
  • Advanced knowledge of usingsyndicated data sources, Office 365 and advanced Excel skills

Critical Experiences:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Consumer Goods withinSales/Marketing, Operations/Engineering, orDemand/Supply Analytics.
  • Experience utilizing a ERP system
