The Department of Pathology employs 125 faculty with diverse expertise from basic science to the practice of human and veterinary medicine, broadly focused on the study, diagnosis and treatment of disease and training the next generation of healthcare and scientific professionals. Nature of work: The Department of Pathology seeks a full time Faculty member (Assistant, Associate, Professor) whose primary role will be to serve as an expert, academic gynecologic attending pathologist. This effort will be focused in subspecialty areas of gynecologic and neonatal surgical pathology but may include additional responsibilities in surgical pathology. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team, inclusive of senior pathologists as well as other physicians, thus strong communication and professionalism skills are expected. Given the acute nature of the work, night and weekend call in rotation with other attending pathologists will be required. This position is an academic post, hence scholarly activities and teaching are expected and time for these activities will be provided. Employment Expectations:
- Attending pathologist based in the Department of Pathology Surgical and Cytopathology Laboratory at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH)
- Provide clinical consultation to peers in pathology, colleagues in other subspecialties at Multidisciplinary Conferences (MDC), and others in subspecialty areas of cytopathology and surgical pathology
- Engage in teaching activities, including small and large group didactic conferences, one on one teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. This includes joining faculty of residency in pathology, as well as fellowships in cytopathology as well as breast and gyn pathology. You will serve on residency committees, participate in evaluation and review committees, and help to ensure that residents and fellows acquire the necessary scientific, medical and other skills to be successful in their career growth.
- Engage in scholarship, as broadly defined in the matrix of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. You are not expected to acquire external funding, however, you may participate in funded research and also apply for pilot funding through Department of Pathology programs.
- Participate as the on call attending in anatomic pathology on-call coverage after hours, serve as the attending pathologist in frozen section coverage at UCH, as well as cover other responsibilities of call including transplant pathology (voluntary), medical autopsy, etc.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Assistant Professor:
- MD or DO Degree
- The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained (or equivalent) in gynecologic surgical pathology will be considered.
Associate Professor:
- MD or DO Degree
- The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained (or equivalent) in gynecologic surgical pathology will be considered. At least 6 years of experience in academic gynecologic and neonatal pathology is required for the rank of Associate Professor. Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required.
Professor:
- MD or DO Degree
- The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained in breast pathology or who have extensive relevant experience will be considered. At least 12 years of experience in academic gynecologic and neonatal pathology is required.to be hired at the rank of Professor.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this 100% FTE position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Assistant Professor: $230,000-260,000 Associate Professor: $260,000-320,000 Full Professor: $300,000-350,000 The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
