Primary Purpose

The SVP of Strategic Commercial Development - Cell and Gene Therapy will lead a team of Business Development Representatives and represent commercial leadership for the Cell and Gene Therapy Therapeutic Area as well as provide Business Development oversight for the Neuroscience and Rare Disease groups. The person in this role represents the therapeutic/scientific interests of the Cell and Gene Therapy Center and will be accountable for the successful development and execution of commercial and business development strategy for the TA, as well as play an essential broader leadership role in Business Development leadership, responsible for hiring, managing, and mentoring a team of sales representatives who support existing and future customers in the TA(s) of focus (Neuroscience and Rare).


Responsibilities

  • Hires and manages a Business Development team to create and drive business into new and existing accounts within the Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), Oncology and Rare disease areas.

  • Serves as a commercial leader for the CGT TA core team - partnering with the scientific leadership, strategic marketing, and other go-to-market resources to define and execute the CGT commercial approach.

  • Develops the go-to-market plan for CGT - including key accounts, win messages, strategic capabilities, customer success management, etc.

  • Drives commercial, therapeutic, and scientific input into CGT business development and proposal activities.

  • Provide strategic guidance related to key opportunities and drives effective execution of the sales cycles.

  • Supports the Neuroscience and Rare disease Leaders in the development and execution of strategic plans for their TAs including new business targets, new business and revenue goals, etc.

  • Serves as the therapeutic/scientific and business development representative presenting strategic plans and recommendations to Emmes leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Maintains accurate sales forecast and pipeline management, ensures their BD team does as well.

  • Drives scientific/therapeutic innovation for the Cell & Gene Therapy therapeutic area.

  • Leads and/or participating in corporate initiatives to advance Emmes' capabilities around the CGT area of expertise

  • Attends conferences and participating in professional development opportunities to stay current on latest trends and innovation in the center's therapeutic area.

  • Embodies Emmes' core values by working collaboratively, building strong relationships, and taking responsibility to meet shared objectives.


Qualifications

  • Required Education:
    • Master's degree in field relevant to clinical research (or equivalent years of experience) and at least 10 years of clinical research experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or other related field and 10+ years of sales or relevant sales adjacent experience.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing a portfolio of clinical research in multiple therapeutic areas with a typical tenure of least 5 years research portfolio management experience.
  • Deep experience leading clinical research projects with experience in or working knowledge of unique challenges and considerations of rare disease research.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of clinical research management.
