Job Description:

Overview:

This position is responsible for the daily coordination of assigned area. This includes training and monitoring production processes of a small group of team members. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing a safe work environment, ensuring standard work is being performed, maintaining 5S levels, identifying and resolving quality issues, identifying and implementing poka yoke, addressing line stop/lost production issues, collecting data and maintaining visual displays, participating in RIP's, and filling in for absent team members on an as needed basis per supervisor's request.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspects and tests prototype, supplier, and production parts and completed products for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Conducts inspection and reporting of non-compliance at all stages of production including, but not limited to prototype, pre-production, all assembly stages, and completed units
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and formulas to determine quality and reliability standards
  • Selects parts, components and products for inspection and testing
  • Inspects and tests components, parts, and assembled products for workmanship, compliance with specifications and regulatory standards. Employs techniques such as electronic and conventional measurement, observation, functional tests, and destructive tests
  • Conducts non-destructive tests of welding and fastened joints
  • Confers with Design Engineers and Manufacturing to identify, diagnose, and resolve non-conforming quality problems including those associated with parts, components, or the manufacturing process
  • Contacts parts suppliers (internal and external) to resolve quality matters
  • Records results of individual observations at all stages of production using printed graphic and written forms, electronic data gathering equipment, and computerized data entry. May prepare charts and graphs of data for analysis
  • May specialize in incoming materials, design, process control, research and development, product overall reliability, warranty, or other phase of production where quality reviews are involved
  • Works with customers and suppliers to resolve warranty issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a complete understanding of all assembly and sub-assembly processes in assignment area sufficient to organize a small work team, train new team members, examine work results, and assemble equipment
  • Requires a working knowledge in the usage of automated production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools, fabricating equipment, and portable air tools such as a ratchet
  • Requires sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as labor and material shortages, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity
  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience preferred
  • Related technical ability and good understanding of production processes and equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience coaching and training others
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Commitment to Lean Principles
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement change

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires sufficient human relations skill to conduct one-on-one training and achieve harmony with team members
  • Strong understanding of Total Preventive Maintenance, TPM
  • Flexible, with strong teamwork orientation
  • Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

  • 10-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds throughout shift.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Tripping hazards, bending, stooping.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $24.64-$32.52 (see step grid) hourly/salary. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
