Who we're looking for

Toyota's PE VMI Battery Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Technician.

The primary responsibility of this role will support the PE Vehicle Battery Engineering VBE group's objective to implement new product launches across North American manufacturing Companies NAMCs.

The person in this role will support the PE Vehicle Battery Engineering VBE group's objective to implement new model product launches across North America, through supporting VBE production equipment development, installation, and confirmation.

What you'll be doing

  • Support Battery Pack Assembly equipment development with Site and Global Teams

  • Confirm equipment specifications and vendor design for fabrication meet BPA standards

  • Confirm equipment, conveyor, and logistics hardware interactions and product transfers

  • Confirm individual and zone equipment safety interlocks

  • Complete BPA Seibi checks for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and safety design

  • Confirm equipment operation meets design criteria

  • Support equipment tuning and adjustment to meet productivity, quality, and safety requirements

  • Support vendor buy off trials for seibi confirmation

  • Develop and implement equipment countermeasures during set-up and production trials

  • Engage in travel (or dispatch) to U.S., Canada, and/or Mexico NAMCs and suppliers, as well as foreign travel including Japan, Canada, and Mexico.

  • Commonly work overtime, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays

What you bring

  • Associates degree in a technical field (or higher) or completion of a trade school or 7+ years equivalent technical experience

  • Experience with Toyota Production Equipment procurement, installation, and/or confirmation as a Toyota Team Member or Contractor working for Toyota

  • Experience with PLC programming for Toyopuc, Allen Bradley, Omron, or Siemens

  • Experience with Kawasaki or Fanuc Industrial Robots for Part Transfer or Auto-Tightening applications

  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings.

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and weekends across multiple shifts to support tooling modification and installation projects, including overtime up to 25% or higher during peak times

  • Ability & willingness to travel 50%, domestically and internationally

Added bonus if you have

  • Toyota PE Seibi experience

  • Toyota Maintenance experience

  • Experience with Assembly, Body, Paint, or Powertrain seibi equipment confirmation activity

  • Knowledge of safety scanner setup and programming

  • Experience with vision systems setup and integration

  • Experience with AMRs, AGVs, AGV Traffic Control
