SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the Flex Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Plan to approve expense reports submitted by participants for IRS FSA compliance.
  • Prepares various reconciliations and analysis relating to expense reports.
  • Reviews and approves spend authorizations, expense reports, and transportation chargebacks.
  • Coordinates with Data Research and Reporting for specific reporting needs.
  • Develops procedures for current expense processes Testing business processes in new system releases relating to expenses.
  • Researches updates on accounting related standards and provides recommendations on how to implement new accounting standards and policies.
  • Maintains schedules pertaining to newly implemented Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements. Files various state and/or federal reports.
  • Prepares monthly internal financial reports. Prepares financial schedules and budget reports for charter schools and assists in other audit requests.
  • Performs special projects and analysis; Assists with the Financial Reporting Department, as needed Reconciliation of capital assets. Assists in the financial year end close. Enters journal entries, supplier invoice accounting adjustments and payroll accounting adjustments as needed.
  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for charter schools, including developing and maintaining budget, reconciling general ledger accounts, revenue projections, expense analysis, preparing for the annual independent audit and assisting in related audit requests.
  • Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business or a closely related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience proven work experience in the accounting/business field.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Business or CPA certificate is preferred.
  • Proven work experience with accounting ERP system, such as Workday is preferred
  • Ability to work with and analyze complex financial data.
  • Ability to work under time sensitive environment.
  • Ability to complete appropriate financial paperwork.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
  • Strong business aptitude.
  • Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented and be well organized.
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated.
  • As this position requires direct contact with college administrators, faculty, staff, general public and students on a regular basis, the ability to deal with all types of individuals via telephone and in-person is extremely important.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
