Overview

We're seeking an Executive Director HIM/Coding to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for the operational leadership and day to day oversight for (Physician Practice, Hospital and Clinics) Health Information Management (HIM) division. This leader is responsible for the planning, implementation, execution and management of all clinical revenue capture, clinical documentation improvement, coding, and quality assurance required to provide the institution with accurate, reliable and timely revenue recognition of its clinical and research services provided to its patients. The position is also responsible for the Release of Information function.

Location: This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

Overview:

The Executive Director of HIM/Coding will establish strong relationships across the organization, maintaining visibility and fostering a culture focused on quality, operational improvement and accountability. This position will work closely with Revenue Cycle, HIM, and Finance leadership to collaborate on advancing strategic direction and efficiency, and ensure all functions are in compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and accrediting standards. In addition, the Executive Director will represent UnityPoint Health in matters related to operational performance of the HIM/Coding department.


Qualifications

Education:

Required:Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree in finance, business administration, or a health information management related field.

Experience:

Required: 10 or more years related experience in Revenue Cycle or Finance. At least 5 years of management experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Required: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills including professionalism, interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and negotiate effectively through written and verbal methods with varied audiences.
  • Process improvement skills.
  • Fluent with Epic and Microsoft office programs.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Knowledge of change management concepts.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements.
