Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) at our location in Manhattan to assist with delivering information, education and support to patients with a personal history and/or a family history of cancer.

Role Overview:

    This position involves and playing a role in the following: analyzing pedigrees for possible cancer predisposition syndromes, interpreting information, coordinating genetic testing, identifying at-risk family members, and reviewing available options for prevention and surveillance.
  • Analyze patient histories
  • Facilitate genetic testing
  • Educate families about potential health risks
  • Participate in cancer genetics clinics and work closely with genetic counselors

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with Major in Biology, Genetics, Psychology, or related field

Additional Information:

  • Location: 222 E 70th Street
  • Schedule: 9am - 5pm, onsite 5 days per week

  • Reporting to: Senior Genetic Counselor and Manager, Clinical Genetics Service

Core Skills:

  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of genetics and genetics concepts
  • Interest in applying to post-undergraduate program in a medical field (MD, PA or GC)
  • Highly motivated/High attention to detail/Ability to work independently/communication skills/organization skills

The genes we are born with may contribute to our risk of developing certain types of cancer. The Clinical Genetics Service at MSK helps individuals to understand their risk for disease. We offer state of the art genetic counseling and testing, and can assist individuals (affected or unaffected) and families who are at risk for inherited cancer predispositions to make informed medical decisions.

Pay Range: $25.65-$38.42
