SHIFT: 2nd, 3pm-11pm

SUMMARY: Operates hot melt coater to apply hot melt wax to product as per customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, as well as other duties as assigned

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets up machine.
  • Uses hoist to mount full rolls onto machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect material defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures wax weights to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling/greasing machines and changing wax filters.
  • Prepares required paperwork, including daily production reports and SPC charting.
  • Cleans area around the machine and does assigned AIB cleaning.
  • Completes work orders when necessary.
  • Follows final release procedures for all product produced.
  • Retains samples for Q.A. as needed.
  • Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations. Follows plant safety rules.
  • Trains new operators as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises zero employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not necessary
  • Acceptable prior work history

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
