Job Description

Responsible for managing the preparation and distribution of financial statements for internal and external use in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and SEC regulations. This position assists with researching and communicating generally accepted accounting principles and SEC regulations to senior management. Responsible for technical accounting in the preparation of financial and statistical reports to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Washington Commission. This position also works with external auditors to ensure financial statement presentation compliance.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a passion for safety. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety including eliminating at-risk behaviors by conducting safety audits and inspections, eliminating hazards and near misses, and attending safety meetings.

  • Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Ensures required training is successfully completed.
  • Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results.
  • Accountable to ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements, as well as safety standards.
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve employee, business, customer and safety results.


  • Manages the work of others, while retaining ownership of some higher level tasks.
  • Responsible for consolidation of financial statements for internal and external use is accordance with FASB and SEC standards. Also responsible for ensuring financial reporting package iscomplete and accurate.
  • Reviews parked journal entries, as well as journal entry review and recurring entry processes performed by accountants.
  • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting to the SEC.
  • Responsible for research of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC regulations.
  • Manages requests received from management and other departments and represent the department at company meetings.
  • Monitors internal controls and actively update and test SOX 404 procedures
  • Responsible for analysis of reporting periods.
  • Oversees special projects/research within the department.
  • Works with external auditors to ensure quarterly and year-end financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP and SEC standards. Assists with quarterly and year-end audit review by external audit staff.
  • Provides performance appraisals to staff; promote training and development of staff.
  • Manages the department budget.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, and developments in the profession. Makes recommendations for implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience; or Certified Public Accountant designation with 5 years relevant experience at a major Public Accounting firm such as applying proven extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, PCAOB standards, technical accounting and financial reporting standards, developing and sharing a point of view on strategic business issues and trends, anticipating the impact of technology developments, coaching team members on problem-solving techniques and guiding them to use more tools and frameworks, helping others plan their development and how they will achieve their professional and personal goals and creating an environment that encourages improvement, innovation, and inclusion, and challenges traditional approaches
  • Strong technical accounting and analysis skills including demonstrated experience with financial reporting and SEC regulations
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong organization skills

  • Certified Management Accountant or candidate
  • Advanced degree
  • Edgar filing experience
  • FERC and Regulatory accounting experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • SAP experience

The pay range for this position is$98,100.00-$232,900.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
