Music Performance Director (Band)
Job Description Position Title: Band Performance Stipend Reports To: Director of Fine Arts Position Statement: Acts as the visionary expert for the respective department. Responsible for all elements of running a music department. Duties/responsibilities are based on the needs of each individual ensemble/organization. Responsibilities could include any and/or all of the following: repertoire knowledge, rehearsal skills, performance skills, (both individual and group), technology, ability to communicate well with others. Essential Functions: * Manges equipment/instrument inventory. * Oversees instrument maintenance. * Oversees uniform inventory. * Manages music library. * Plans and executes music tours. * Organizes ILMEA activities, (District and All-State auditions and festivals). * Organizes IHSA/other solo and ensemble activities as deemed appropriate. * Manages auditions, clinics, and meetings for junior high matriculation. * Manages award banquets. * Designs and produces concert programs and posters. * Works with district PR personnel for program. * Coordinates all concerts and extra rehearsals. * Organizes concert stage set-up and tear-down. * Manages budgeting for supplies, professional/technical services and capital equipment. * Oversees department social activities/outings with students. * Conducts fundraising/group and student activity accounts. * Holds parent meetings for various needs throughout the year. * Organizes community service projects. * Hires, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates private music staff. * Oversees all concerts outside of the usual four per year, (i.e. Graduation, Assemblies, Academic Awards, National Honor Society Induction, International Night, 8th Grade Curriculum Night, Rotary International, and many other community and school performances. These performances range from solo and small ensembles to large ensembles). Skills: Bachelor of Music Education minimum requirement. Individual should be a strong leader in music with excellent skills in conducting, performance, music analysis, and style interpretation. Vision to lead and maintain a cutting edge program with artistic vision and direction. Calendar: Late July through the rest of the school year. Hours Per Week: Approximately 10+ Hours per week Building: North and West Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
