The school has prepared almost 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students.

MHS is hiring a highly qualified, dynamic Floating Science Teacher for the Middle and High School to teach science curriculum to cover classrooms in 5th through 12th grade classrooms. MHS boasts small class sizes, well-resourced classrooms with state-of-the-art technology, and a collaborative work environment dedicated to ensuring students achieve at or above grade level, despite prior circumstances.

MHS teachers plan, prepare, and deliver lessons with rigor and relevance. They create and analyze formative and summative assessments to differentiate instruction, inform programming, and accommodate individual students and whole group needs. This position entails extensive data utilization including the ability to analyze, interpret and apply data to drive achievement. MHS teachers support school initiatives such as social & emotional skills and wellness, ensuring a whole child approach is taken to student development. This position requires a commitment to remediating students beyond regular classroom hours and a requirement to schedule and complete an additional duty to their teaching schedules.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education with 7-12 science teacher certification required.
  • Experience teaching diverse students from disadvantaged backgrounds desired. Experience with grades 5 through 12 a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in creating engaging, rigorous, and relevant learning experiences.
  • Skilled in using data to inform & differentiate instruction and foster student success.
  • Positive behavioral management & classroom management skills are essential. Restorative justice practices experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in applying current trends in education including leveraging technology and integrating 21st century learning skills.
  • Highly skilled in effectively collaborating with others, including multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Effective in using creative teaching strategies to increase students' critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are considered role models for students.
  • Candidates must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the classroom.
