The Electrical Technician is an essential part of the production and maintenance process and requires the employee to be alert, watchful, and engaged in the operations that are taking place around them. Repairs, maintains and installs any electrical control systems as well as any other electrically powered systems and components associated with plant operation according to accepted codes and safety procedures. The Electrical Technician is responsible for the electrical side of all maintenance and plant functions. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works from information obtained from engineering drawings, electrical diagrams, simple and complex sketches, other related documents and verbal field instructions needed to perform assigned duties. Designs, orders material, and implements modifications to existing equipment or systems under development. Updates drawing or documentation as required.
- Reads and maintains electrical metering devices.
- Analyzes, troubleshoots and performs maintenance and repairs of any plant electrical systems (including, but not limited to, programmable controllers, air conditioning, combustion systems, etc.).
- Cleans and maintains motor parts.
- Participates in the preventive maintenance programs for any electrical equipment and systems.
- Completes records and reports (including but not limited to, MSDS sheets, shop logs, SAP, etc.).
- Operates test equipment necessary to accomplish assigned work.
- Performs inventory and cataloging of spare parts (including, but not limited to, determining whether a part is needed minimum/maximum levels, locating vendor catalog numbers, etc.). Assists in maintaining electrical supplies.
- Performs maintenance tasks of an incidental nature (including, but not limited to, welding, sheet metal, etc.).
- Performs miscellaneous work associated with electrical systems (including, but not limited to, telephone installations and modifications, running cable for computer systems, etc.)
- Participates in the safety, communication process, continuous improvement, and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
- Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by supervision.
- Participates in the emergency response team as required.
- Basic electrical motor other electrical component troubleshooting.
- Allen Bradley PLC Programming and Troubleshooting.
- Always works with safety in mind and is knowledgeable of LOTO/LTT, machine guarding and other safety rules, policies, procedures, and laws.
- Maintains, installs, operates, sets up, and tests all types of plant equipment.
- Perform electrical maintenance duties on transformers, switchgear, breakers, and other electrical components.
- Performs all other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
SKILLS AND ABILITIES The employee should hold the following abilities:
- Understand the plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Must have the ability to do basic mathematical calculations such as to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to conduct simple mechanical tests.
- Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must be able to secure and maintain fork lift driver's license, which requires a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must work well in team environment.
- Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must have strong internal and external customer service skills.
- Must have the ability to multi-task.
- Must be willing to learn, or able to, troubleshoot controls related systems using controls software.
- Must be willing to learn new controls technologies and systems as required throughout the plant.
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES The employee must be able to:
- Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument, to include touch screens.
- Log on to company computer system
Preferred:
- Allen Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting skills
- WonderWare, PanelView, Ignition, or other HMI competencies
- SAP competencies
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE The employee should have the following requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older.

- Two years manufacturing or related industrial experience and/or a technical certificate
