DESCRIPTION & DETAILS

Holton-Arms is seeking a passionate, experienced, student-centered, full-time Grades 3-4 Science and 3-6 Design Tech teacher. Design Tech is Holton's hallmark STEAM program emphasizing the Design Think process. The Lower School has two Maker spaces that allow for innovative, hands-on learning, 3-D printing, coding, and more. In the first year of this position, the role will involve teaching a section of third-grade science, and grades 3-6 Design Tech. The role will evolve into teaching third and fourth-grade science, and oversight of the grades 3-6 Design Tech program, including the teaching of grades 3, 4, and 6 Design Tech. The successful candidate for this role will have experience in elementary STEAM curriculum design, an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues, and the ability to spark passion amongst elementary students to innovate. The candidate should have a clear vision of a robust STEAM program for grades 3 through 6 while valuing and incorporating input from colleagues. Additionally, the person in this role will lead an advisory of 6-8 students and be able to communicate and partner effectively with parents. The successful candidate will be prepared to commit to and promote the School's Mission as well as the institutional priorities embodied in the School's philosophy of Learn Well, Live Well, Lead Well and the Diversity Mission Statement. Engaging in curriculum redesign towards a more deliberate anti-racist curriculum is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have:


  • 3 to 5 years of STEAM teaching experience and curriculum development
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Elementary Education. Science or STEAM emphasis a plus
  • Experience teaching grades 3-6 block based coding
  • Experience embedding Social and Emotional Learning, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, and Global Competencies into their curriculum
  • Experience leading an advisory is preferred
  • Passion for working with grades 3-6 girls
  • Commitment to creating a student-centered, project-based, and competency-driven classroom
  • Proficiency with technology and digital platforms in the classroom
  • Eagerness to collaborate with colleagues within and across disciplines
  • Commitment to continued professional learning
