Description

The clinical nurse specialist (CNS) - is the clinical nursing leader for Adult Cardiac Critical care and Telemetry programs at UCLA Health. The advancedknowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring, andchange leadership. These are essential to advance the practice of nursing and the professional development of nurses. The specialized knowledge andskills are used within three major spheres of influence: patient/family, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization/system. The CNS andUnit/Service Line Directors are partners in leading the nursing clinical practice area. The CNS coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects ofnurses within a practice area. The CNS - is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measuresafe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies, and responsible for contributing to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit/system,local, state and/or national and international level.

Salary Range : $140,000 -$331,800

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association -required
  • CA Registered Nurse License - required
  • CA Clinical Nurse Specialist License - required
  • Masters in Nursing (MSN) - required
  • National certification in area of specialty - required
  • CNS Advanced Practice Certification - preferred
  • One year minimum experience in Cardiothoracic ICU - required

  • Minimum 5 years recent RN experience including 3 years recent RN experience inclinical specialty - required
  • One year CNS experience in clinical specialty - preferred


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:



  • Demonstrated skills at the level of an advanced practice nurse in leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring and change management as evidenced byCV/portfolio, letters of recommendation, references, interview and demonstration.
  • Demonstrated ability at the level of an advanced practice nurse to utilize evidence to develop and implement practice standards and policies, teach and coach.
  • Organizational, analytical, oral and written presentation skills with proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Experience in research and grant writing preferred.
