Overview
Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection is part of the Research Safety and Regulatory Programs (RS&RP) unit of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) and promotes health, safety and environmental protection in teaching, research, public service and administrative activities by providing training, advice and other compliance assistance to all members of the University community. The staff provide technical and regulatory services in the areas of public health, environmental health, occupational safety and health (OSH), environmental protection and fire safety. The goal is to assist all members of the Tufts community in achieving safe conditions to work, learn and live at all times. It is also to minimize the impact of Tufts activities and operations on the environment and assist the Tufts community in achieving compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations and laws that pertain to any and all activities conducted on any Tufts University campus. What You'll Do This is a part-time benefits-eligible position, working 17.5 hours per week. This role will support the SMFA campus (Fenway) and Boston Health Sciences campus. There is flexibility - We estimate two (2) days per week on campus, or can be flexible to four (4) half-days, as well. **This is not a shift position.** The Workplace Safety Manager must be available on one of the campuses to respond to incidents and accidents, which occur most often between 7AM and 6PM, Monday through Friday. Please note: For this part-time position and compensation range listed below will be prorated accordingly (range displayed is based on full-time 35-hour week) The Workplace Safety Manager reports to the Director Industrial Hygiene and is the first-line contact in all matters of public health, occupational safety and health, fire safety and environmental protection for the faculty, staff, students, visitors, contractors and regulatory agents for the Boston campuses (Health Sciences and SMFA). They will primarily be conducting safety inspections and investigating accidents. Workplace Safety Manager can provide guidance on non-laboratory health, safety and environmental matters. Pay Range Minimum $71,050.00, Midpoint $88,850.00, Maximum $106,700.00 Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range. |
