The basics of this position:

STLCC's Facilities department is seeking applicants for a Groundskeeper position. We are looking for knowledgeable, experienced, and motivated candidates for this year-round position. Working Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to the success of STLCC by enhancing the grounds and landscaping on our multiple campuses. We offer flexible starting times, and our benefits include generous paid vacation and holidays, health insurance, and a retirement plan. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance who possess a current pesticide applicator license.

What you'll do:



  • Maintains campus grounds, including lawns, shrubs, flowers, trees, etc.; plants flowers, trims evergreens and ground covers, plants shrubs, transplants trees, and waters garden areas; cuts areas with riding lawn mower and hand mower; rakes and mulches leaves; chemically controls weeds and bugs in sidewalks and flower beds. Maintains indoor plants. Drives small tractor, truck or other equipment on grounds; shovels snow and operates other snow equipment as needed. Cleans sidewalks, grass area, mulch beds, and other campus areas; empties trash cans, picks up litter, and generally keeps the campus area clean; repairs/patches asphalt, seal cracks, stripes.May repair, patch, stripe or seal lots and walks as needed. Maintains athletic fields. May prepare job labor cards or reports on chemical application analysis. May maintain campus vehicles and grounds equipment, including irrigation apparatus.May train and supervise student grounds employees. Assists in the preparation and lining of athletic fields.
    Performs other job related duties as assigned


Education, experience, and other requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent and three years experience in landscaping grounds or
nursery farming. Valid drivers' license and insurance. Chemical applicator's license is preferred.
