Position Summary

The Salvation Army St. Paul Citadel is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; youth programming, and connections to community partners.

The Youth Development Assistant is responsible for assisting with youth programming and activities.

$15/hour, 15 hours/week

Essential Functions (Approximate time spent)



  • Assist with planning and leading youth programming, events, trips, and activities in various areas including spiritual, educational, recreational, and relational. (80%)
  • Participate in Worship and Christian education programs including supporting leadership with planning and teaching. (10%)
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information. (5%)
  • Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%)


Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in youth programming, ministry, or social services is required.
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, Senior Soldier in good standing preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications and pass background checks.

  • Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment.


Working Conditions



  • Moderate physical work and must be able to lift 50 pounds required.
  • Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must be able to drive, sit, communicate clearly, and work in person or on the phone.
  • Work hours will include evenings and occasional weekends


Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

Occasional local driving using a personal vehicle or agency vehicle may be required. Rare overnight trips.
